The Scottish Catholic Archives acts as a hub for the Archives of the Catholic Church in Scotland at home and abroad. The Keeper of the Archives manages and administers the archives in the Scots College in Rome and Salamanca.

SCOTTISH CATHOLIC ARCHIVES

The Scottish Catholic Archives holds over 750 individual collections, spanning 800 years of Scottish and European history. ARCHDIOCESE OF GLASGOW ARCHIVES

The Archives of the Archdiocese of Glasgow are held at 196 Clye Street, Glasgow. In addition to records dating from 1878, when the Hierarchy was restored in Scotland, there are some earlier records dating back to the 1820s from the former Western District Vicariate. Access and enquiries about the Archives should be directed to the Archives at the Archdiocese of Glasgow.

PONTIFICAL SCOTS COLLEGE, ROME, ITALY

The Archives of the Pontifical Scots College, Rome, Italy are split between the Scottish Catholic Archives and the College itself. Access to the Archives in Edinburgh is in the normal manner. Access to materials held in the college is by appointment only and restricted to certain times of the year when the Keeper of the Archives (Edinburgh) is working in Rome. Please contact the Keeper if you wish to conduct research in the College Archives.

ROYAL SCOTS COLLEGE, SALAMANCA, SPAIN

The Archives of the Royal Scots College, Salamanca, Spain are split between the Scottish Catholic Archives and the College itself. Access to the Archives in Edinburgh is in the normal manner. Access to materials held in the college is by appointment only and restricted to certain times of the year when the Keeper of the Archives (Edinburgh) is working in Salamanca.
