Hello everyone,

Just wondering if anyone is aware of a Martin MacDonald from the Knoydart / Arisiag area. He would have been born around 1755 and left Scotland for North America prior to 1784. He settled in Knoydart, Nova Scotia Canada in 1784. I have not come across any records that indicate (one way or another) that he was elsewhere prior to settling in Nova Scotia. He was Roman Catholic and had a Brother John who later joined him in Nova Scotia, before heading to Glengarry, Ontario (according to the oral tradition). Also according to the oral tradition that has been recorded, two of his sons Martin and John were born prior to his arrival in Nova Scotia.

I do not have much experience in researching outside of Nova Scotia, Canada. Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post.
